The great thing about Daft Punk's gloves is that they are insanely easy to build from scratch. I took a more complicated method to build them here ( involving a vacuum former ) but you can turn these out in a matter of hours with some PVC pipe and some scrap plastic.
I started with building the master mold. These plates were built with PVC couplings, and the larger plate was built out of thick styrene.

I mounted the finger plates to a flat surface.....AKA popsicle sticks to ready them for vacuum forming.

First pull on the Protoform vaccum forming machine - YouTube
It's just a method to form simple shapes using heat and pressure.
These plates were pulled in .60 styrene, and then primed with Krylon
"Ruddy Brown" Primer.

I have just recently started building the larger plate out of acrylic plastic, which is insanely tough and holds its shape well. i use a heat gun to mold it to the contours of my hand.

Now it's time to start trimming the plates. I use a combination of many tools, but I find having a large aresenal of sanding blocks is a great help.

This is usually a 3 hour process for me. So tedious.

After the plates are all trimmed, I mount them to a sprue to provide the best coverage while painting. Here I used chop sticks and clay to mount the plates.

The plates are them primed with grey primer and left to sit for an hour. Brown or white primer easily shows through black paint, but grey primer blends in quite well. Then, the black.

Then the silver is sprayed on, and VOILA! Daft Punk plates.
