Arkham City Robin for Dallas Comic Con

Decided to post what I made for the dallas comic con. Some stuff came down to the very last minute but I think the overall costume turned out pretty well especially since this if the first one I've ever made. I'll try to explain how I made some of the stuff for those who are curious and I'm open to constructive criticism. Thanks.

I'll try to go piece by piece and provide photos of the finished products (didn't take any during... but I'll include scrap photos to help where I can). This will get long and I don't expect anyone to read it all. I just know that when I was looking through the forums I kept wanting more details so I could steal other peoples' ideas more or less. I'm posting all I can really remember about my process and will add some pictures of each of the pieces after this post so you can see details.

I'll go top to bottom I suppose.

Mask
I at first looked at the youtube video from backyard fx and was planning on making my own latex mask but then found a mask on sale from 4th wall designs. here's the link (expired obviously) Comicbook Superhero Villain Pro Urethane Mask 'Robin Young Justice' | eBay. Their portfolio looked good and since I planned on using it more than once I figured it was worth the cost. Then I just used some black eye make up I got from a halloween store and some spirit gum to stick it to my face.

Cape
Had help on the sewing for everything. But just stuck with a basic cape and hood design (patterns are online or on sale at fabric stores). I used 100% cotton fabric because I was hoping the weight of it would keep it from blowing around too much. It uses string to tie it together at the neck but I used velcro, a piece of fabric, and a half moon button as a cover up. The half moon button was wood color but I spray painted it gold to keep to the original.

that's the cape from the back--let's you see the hood a bit

with it off you can see the string tie better. when I wore it I put the button (below) over the string and tucked the excess string into my shirt.
