This is my first post as well as my first build.Im attempting to build a Judge Dredd helmet. The file I got was from The Printable Armory ( The Printable Armory ) I had bought the Judge Dredd 2012 movie file from someone on the forum, but halway putting it together i just felt the way it was made that it wasnt that firm to begin with seeing that i would have to resin it. So i went with the file from the printable armory and I was satisfied. It took awhile to learn how to work the program, I asked questions on other threads but go no answers back from anyone, so youtube hunting i went! So i succesfully glued the helmet together and added resin to it. and quickly problems started acurring!
Problem number one... A cold front came in the night I added resin to the helmet. I live in Central Texas where the weather has been perfect as of late until I decided to do a build lol. So my helmet didnt cure very well. It was very sticky and even after two days nothing seemed to change it. So i waited for it to warm a little more and just went ahead and added another coat even tho the other still hadnt fully cured. Nonetheless it worked and within two hours my helmet was dry.
So i went on to the next step which was bondo. I think I added way to much and so the sanding is going to take forever!! I am not satisfied with it as of today, So i went and scoured through more youtube videos and came across this guys tutorials Dave Ghezzo - YouTube
He has awesome information and Ive decided to scrap this current build and restart mine with my added knowledge. Anyone thinking of starting a first build I would recommend you watch his videos! I did everything wrong but learned alot on this half build. I'll post updates on my next helmet as soon as i get it started! Below are some of my first build pics (which I will be scraping)
