So I decided I wanted to go all out on my costume this year for halloween and after searching for Thor costume designs I stumbled across this site and fell in love. This is my first foam build and I'm pretty pleased with how my Thor helmet is turning out so far.
I just have one question, I made the wings and didn't even think about the back of them. The foam I have been using is 1/4 inch EVA foam from Sear's and the back of it has the "Steel Plate" design. I didnt think twice about this until finishing the right wing and realizing that this part will be showing.
I'm planning on sealing them with PVA glue and experimenting with resining / body filler to get everything nice and smooth but I'm wondering if I should try and sand down the back first to get it flat. Or should I just seal / resin the back like everything else and then smooth it out that way? Will the sandpaper just tear up the foam or will it be fine?
Thanks!
