Hello! I am a makeup artist and I'm now branching out and working on fabrications/masks/costuming. Our salon is known for special effects makeup, we already do prosthetics and a lot of airbrushing, but I am very interested in learning new methods of working with foam. Here are a few pictures of what I did for this Halloween, and I'd like some advice on some new characters to add for next year! Based on my favorite movie, Beetlejuice.

I'm wearing Barb. :) I made them from sheets of high density construction foam, shaped them with a hot foam wire cutter, sanded and carved for detailing, sealed with guesso, then painted. They were surprisingly light weight and also warm, which was perfect for that night because it was super cold! We won 2 contests first place and it was super fun.
So my question is- is it possible to carve masks/fabrications like these using Styrofoam, and it be sturdy? The foam I bought was so expensive, and if I can make a few projects from blocks of styrofoam it would make life so much easier!
Anyone have experience with that?
