Miles Morales costume attempt LOVE ME >:)

$

So I decided to make a miles morales costume based off of the popular design from this guy , but more movie like. Puff paint etc the good stuff >:). Still not finished but here is whats done so far.

I started first by buying a plain old lycra black suit , removable mask, feet, and gloves!
next I got my lenses from View Profile: TJack - the RPF the god of all men.
I then spray painted them with gloss cherry red.
I then out lined the mask with white chalk for the spots to hit with puff paint and then put on the lenses, I want magnets for the lenses but I cant figure out where to buy them. If you know please tell me :).

Doc Ock from 2004 Spider-Man 2 (Alfred Molina) - Pic Heavy

First time starting a thread on here.

I recently went to Houston for Comicpalooza / Galacticon summer of 2013 and while walking around the convention floor, a Doc Ock had walked past my fiance and I. He had done the comic version and I had said to her that I was more interested in Alfred Molina's portrayal of the role and how the costume was designed. She, also being a costumer, told me she loved the character and I should do it. So began the journey.

I plan on releasing the finished product at New York Comicon 2013 (NYCC).

I hope I can finish in time!!! Wish me luck.

The original thread this is an offspring from was pretty dated (and the OP banned as well), so I started a new thread that can be a bit more maintained. I did go through the original thread and pulled any file links that were still active and compiled them below. I've tried to credit creators where I could, or at least who posted the link, if any of these are incorrect or need to be updated please let me know.

For anyone interested in the original thread:(http://www.therpf.com/f24/what-pepak...e-made-123626/)

Listed below are some of the sites that can be searched for files if you are having trouble finding something particular. The file links are all free, some may require registration (such as 4shared). Some files may have passwords, I don't have them so you're on your own there. I have not included the myriad of Iron Man armors and other PDOs that can be easily found on the RPF using the search function.

A lot of files are available through the Tamasoft site, worth a look:

So I am scraping the bottom of my can of Bondo to do some detail work on my helmet and trying to get by until my new 1 gallon can of evercoat arrives in a few days.

I got enough to make a small batch and put a little hardner in, but for some reason it never set. Figuring I put too little hardner I cleaned it all off and scrape up enough from the can to mix more and just barely make it. I am sure to add enough hardener but alas two hours later it is not hard. WTF!!?? Humidity? Bad stuff in the bottom of the can?!

While cleaning up again for a second time I realize my mistake... I grabbed the wrong tube and mixed in glazing putty by accident instead of hardener! DOH!!!!! :(

The Hall of Armor - The Complete Iron Man File Thread

Hey all.

With so many IM builds, I thought it would be an amazing idea if someone made a thread with all IM pep/foam files in one location (with permission from their respective creators, of course). With all of the new suits, it would make locating these a lot easier.

Being new to all this and currently working on my first build, I would like to extend the invitation to all to post their files on this page. If someone would like to take over and manage this thread, they are welcome to do so, as I am essentially a novice on this forum and do not have a lot of experience working the full range of this forum's capabilities.

Thoughts to all?

Arkham Origins inspired Batsuit

Hello all.
Today we present our inspired Arkham Origins Batsuit.
Honestly, we were not very interested in this version, but after seeing and experiencing the wonderful cowl made for the occasion by Kevin ... well ... it absolutely deserved all the rest!
Despite being heavily inspired by the video game, also in this case (as always ...) we have added our own, giving us a lot of creative freedom; for example the arms have a strong "New 52" design... belt has more hi-tech lines...and we also found absurd the absence of a Cod Piece, which we promptly added.
The result is what you see ... hopefully meeting your approval;)

BAT GREETINGS! ;)

All parts are made from sintra, fiberglass etc..

P.S. Costume is NOT intended for sale !! ;)

Cobra Commander - Roquefert WIP

$

Hello RPF!

So I started on a Cobra Commander outfit as so many people at Chicago Wizard World thought my wife looked like the Baroness I figured why not!

I will be going for this in the end:

So far I have put together the pepakura Cobra Commander Helmet by BlackKaos but I still need to resin, fiberglass, etc...

I have however had access to a 3d printer and have created the cobra emblems for the Cloak.

I then proceeded to create a mold and cast one to see how well it works.

I have also started to work on sewing together the suit. I was able to find a pattern that closely resembles the uniform worn in the pictures above and have started cutting them out and putting it together. This will take a lot more time as it is my first time sewing anything like a suit before.

Anyways let me know what you all think!

Will be providing updates as I go along. Also if enough people are interested I may make a JY thread for pulls for the cobra emblem.

-Roquefert

P.S. - Forgot that I had this button photo too! Was playing around more with the 3d printer and created it for the outfit. Not exactly finished yet but is a good start. Will need some sanding and then a mold made so I can create a few more for the Jacket.

Hello guys. I want to make the Deathstroke Mask that JF Custom made. But I really find it hard to work on the EVA foam. So I was wondering if anyone could unfold it so it can be made on cardstock. I asked him but he told me he doesnt unfold them for that.

Ironpool design

I have decided that over the course of the next year I am going to build an Ironpool suit. I have seen a lot of pics of Ironman suits with a Deadpool paint scheme but I'm going for something a little more customized to be a little of each character but still clearly a Stark suit. Hard to explain what I mean. I'm beginning sketches right now for my concept I'll upload them when I'm done. I'm really excited to start this project.

TASM 2 Suit Project - ADVICE needed Faceshell?? $6 Amazon Find

$

Hello folks! First time poster here. A buddy and I are trying to put together Spidey suits as best we can in preparation for an upcoming convention. I'm basing mine loosely off of the new TASM 2 Suit. Some differences I plan on executing is puffy painting the honeycomb in between the webbing TASM 1 style. (Like the shiny, rubbery look better) For the shoes, I found water-shoes for $2 at Big Lots and cut the fabric off leaving just the sole for me to glue.

I ordered my suit off of ZentaiZone as shown below:

I also ordered these web shooters off of Shapeways

In addition, I ordered Tjack lenses that are TASM 2 style as well. (They seem so well known, I figured no pic needed.)

The main question I had was that I needed a faceshell and didn't want to pay even MORE money after spending on the suit, shooters, lenses, paint, etc.

I found this on Amazon and was wondering what you all thought:

It looks basic enough. Very cheap, just dont know how strong it is or if cutting holes for the eyes could be a problem.

I'd appreciate any overall input, I'm so excited to begin!

Deathstroke - laser cut foam

Well, Halloween is approaching and my daughter has decided we're going as DC villains. I love the mask design for Deathstroke in Injustice: Gods Among Us so I decided to go that route. Not sure if I will do the rest of the armor as in the game (I prefer the armor from Arkham) but this is a start.

I started with the JF Custom foam template and exported it as an EPS file. I cleaned up the lines, connected everything up and deleted faces in Illustrator to get a clean vector file. I then took this and cut the pieces on the laser engraver in my shop out of 6mm foam.

I hate cutting foam as it make a mess and my newly crawling daughter likes to stay in the room I usually work in. Have the foam precut made everything go a lot easier. Cleaning up the files took much less time than cutting the templates out of paper and tracing them on the foam. If you have access to a laser, I highly recommend it. The key is multiple passes on a low intensity setting. I even left the fold lines in the areas that make raised areas. The laser etched a very shallow line that acted as a guide for gluing. Very nice.

I also only used one side of the template and flipped it for the opposite side. I have found it easier to put both sides together when they match. I added any details that were only on one side (this is Deathstroke) but otherwise the sides are symmetrical.

The right eye 'patch' is giving me some trouble but it will work itself out eventually.

Grave Digger (not the monster truck lol) Halloween costume *pic heavy*

$

0
Halloween is coming and after putting together my stormtrooper armor and building a few other small props i decided to take a shot at building some foam armor. I've read a lot on the forums about building foam armor but this is my first build so forgive me for novice mistakes.

I'm a big fan of the Spawn comics and the toy line so one day I cam across the Grave Digger and I instantly knew this was going to be my costume!

It seems simple enough and not a ton of armor but still pretty creepy. Only problem I have with it is I'm not nearly that skinny so I have to come up with a alternative for being shirtless and pantless. So i went down to my local harbor freight and picked up some foam interlocking mats and then the fun began.

I decided to start with the right wrist guard since it was small.

added alot of wear and tear to it since I wanted this to seem really old

Assembled it after a few minor adjustments

then started working on the hand plate and spikes

had to put together 3 pieces of foam to make the spikes which im not a huge fan of but its not too bad.

Im going to be using high powered magnets for most of my closures on the armor so here is the magnets of the hand plate and wrist guard

here it is mostly put together and I added plasti dip to coat it

Eventually I will add these real rusted bolts

Now I the left wrist guard

just a little sizing

Add the other plates and getting it just right was tough since im new at sizing stuff to fit me but It worked out in the end

damages and details

Here it is with the joining pieces add.

Now the wrist guard needed big spikes and I didn't have thick enough foam to make it so I tried crayola model magic. This stuff is kinda weak so I added a bunch of coats of resin to harden them up then with the plasti dip they seem pretty solid.

This piece is what closes it all up once again another magnet

Next up the right knee pad

left knee pad was kinda stuff since it has so many layers. Spikes are drying as I type this so they will be added in the next day or so.

Here is my little helper she is pretty cute

Phew alright now I am at the present! I started working on the shoulder pad last night and got stuck on this part the rounded curve part of the shoulder. No matter how much I heat the foam I cant seem to get the right shape if anyone has a suggestion please let me know!

I order some German jack boots that I will attach all the boot armor to they should be in hopefully in a week or two. I was thinking for the body I would wrap myself like a mummy but keeping it pretty loose fitting and stain the bandages to make them look old and dirty. Then make myself some pants and tear them up by putting holes in them, ripping and shredding them and maybe dye them black or a dark green.

Any thoughts, advice, questions and constructive criticism is welcome. Please remember this is my first time making anything like this.

New And In Need Of Help.

I made a rush job Iron Man Costume for a Bday party. Now the party has been and gone, I want to make it properly.

Just wondering if this stuff is ok to use :-

http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/prod...ng-resin.aspxI

Am I ok to resin over foam?
Or does it have to be paper/cardboard?
How much do you reckon is needed for a full costume?

Im new to this kind of thing and all the help I get, would be much appreciated. Im also from the UK, so UK suppliers would be great.

Many thanks.

Skin Suit problems: ( Nightwing relative)

$
0

So I'm working on a Nightwing costume, and trying to get a feel for my approach to the cosplay.

I don't necessarily like the look of just getting a zentai suit and a mask, then calling it a day.
I was considering doing an EVA foam build, reminiscent of the Injustice costume. But that has started to seem like it would be far too counter intuitive for a character who makes use of so much acrobatics.

Foam armor is also rather bulky in part and doesn't really conform the sleek look of his suit in the comics, which is the incarnation of Nightwing I am going to try to be loyal to.

So I settled on using a mixture of sculpted foam armor pieces, and a skinsuit.

In the past costumes I've put together, I didn't have to work these two materials together.

I'm hoping some people have some suggestions and advice for the following issues:

1. Dying/painting/applying the logo to the skinsuit ( as far as the limits/abilities of the materials involved)
2. Attaching the foam armor pieces to the suit
